Emergency Section

The Emergency Section of Caritas (T) has three units, namely Emergency, Refugees & Social Welfare. The Emergency unit  involves itself with Disaster Management activities and Emergency response coordination of Relief services in Tanzania. The emergency unit also does the food distribution as drought has persisted in most of the districts/dioceses of Tanzania.

It targets the most vulnerable population during catastrophes like drought, floods, earthquakes and major accidents.

Refugees Unit

The refugees Unit of Caritas Tanzania is under emergency section in which they involve themselves in  refugees programes.  The programes supports the refugees from great lakes countries who are asylum seekers, those who are attending medical services permitted to stay in the Urban and in the camps.  Currently the programe supports the refugees who come to Dar es Salaam.

Caritas Tanzania—Refugees unit does the counseling of the refugees and support their survival while here is Dar es Salaam.  Home visits are conducted to  see how the refugees live and survive.

Recently the refugee unit organized a one day event called "A Solidarity Day for Refugees".  On this day different social activities were performed and refugees were welcome to Caritas (T) as friends and the people who need love and  care.  Caritas (T) regardless of their duties played with refugees and shared the love & charity of Caritas

Social Welfare Unit

The Social Welfare unit of CT is under the Emergency Section.  The unit attends  people with disabilities who are not refugees.  Not only disabilities but also those who are sick, either physically or mentally and lastly the unit serves the poor.

All these groups are given courage, hope and life again.  And where possible they are materially supported to make them survive. The unit serves the poor and the needy.
