Caritas Tanzania Women In Development and Children Section plays a role of promoting women in socio-economic field throughout the Country. The strategy that Women In Development (WID) has chosen to achieve its objectives is to place greater emphasis in capacity building of the Diocesan Offices for the purpose of promoting women activities at all levels. The Diocesan WID Offices mobilise resources towards their sustainable development. The National WID office encouraging and empowering Diocesan WID Co-ordinators to organise women in groups and hence initiate various projects to address their socio-economic needs. In this case there is no uniformity of women programs or projects in the dioceses. The Diocesan WID activities/Programs are coordinated and supervised by the Diocesan WID Co-ordinators.

For the period of 1997-2000 the National WID Office has engaged itself in the following main tasks:
